Management
Stress is a normal part of life and does have its benefits in keeping us motivated and focused on our goals. However, problems with stress begin to occur when excessive amounts of stress damage our health.
The holistic approach to stress management, reminds us of the interconnectedness of our mind, body and spirit, and emotions. It teaches us that stress impacts all aspects of a person's life and that our true well-being requires a balance across these areas. This approach moves beyond just alleviating symptoms to guiding the client to understand and address the root causes of stress, before developing preventative strategies.
Stress management also offers an individualised approach, recognising 'one size doesn't fit all'. It acknowledges the important mind-body connection, with a strong emphasis on prevention. Strategies can include, but are not limited to mindfulness, exercise and outdoor activity, healthy diet, sleep hygene, social connections and stress-relieving activities. This variety of techniques and strategies help to control the individual's level of psychological and physical stress, with the goal of improving their overal well-being and daily functioning.
